If you are one of the very few people who bought a Sharp LL-151-3D, you are probably trying to figure out how to get it to actually do anything useful, like play Doom III in 3d. Here's how I finally managed to do it...

  1. Throw away the software that came with the monitor. I was unable to get this software to do anything other than crash my computer.
  2. Don't bother plugging in the USB cable that connects the display to your computer. You won't need it.
  3. Get a NVidia graphics card. The faster the better, since doing stereo 3d takes at least twice as much effort as non-stereo 3d. I used a super-fast (and expensive) NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400 .
  4. Install the latest Nvidia drivers. I used version 71.84.
  5. Install the latest Nivdia Stereo software. I used version 71.84.
  6. Use the fabulous NVTweak tool to enable the "Show All Viewer Types" under 3D Stereo. This is really the magic step that took me a long time to stumble upon.
  7. Use the NVidia control panel to select (the now visible) "Sharp 3D display" from the "Stereo Type" pull down and "Enabled" from the "Stereo Enable Mode". Click OK.
  8. Set your screen to 1024x768 resolution.
  9. Run DOOM III or pretty much any modern 3d game. Make sure the game is set to use 1024x768 resolution.
  10. Push the 3d button on the monitor.

That's it! Mind-blowing, headache-provoking 3d.
